Vacations are supposed to be fun, invigorating and relaxing. Sometimes with a family it can be a little trying at times, but when we remember that it's a vacation, that tends to relax the stress level a bit. The next thing on the minds of vacationers is of course, money. For most of us, we probably wish we had more than we do when it comes to vacations, especially if your the parents of young ones. Many hotels offer some pretty go savings depending on what time of the year you plan to go. If you have children, many of the hotel restaurants lets children under a certain age eat for free. Car rentals have special rates too. Sometimes you can save by renting a specific vehicle, or weekly rates also. For family vacations, look for hotels and/or restaurants that offer discounted or free meals for children under a specific age. When traveling with several children, the savings will add up quickly. Another option is to stop by a local grocery store to purchase bread and peanut butter or cans of tuna fish so you can eat lunch in the hotel room rather than spending money to dine out. This with a bag of potato chips and some apples will save you quite a bit of money that could be spent on something a little more fun. Many hotels and restaurants offer discounts and free meals for children under certain ages. This can come in real handy for the family vacation, especially if you have more than two children. It may also be a good idea to stop by the grocery store and pick up a loaf of bread and some peanut butter and jelly, along with some apples or bananas that don't need refrigeration. This way, a day by the pool, lunches can be brought to the picnic area, or pool side. Everyone, loves theme parks but they can be exhausting. It's a really good idea to bring bottle water, don't buy it when you get to the park. These places can charge $5 or more. So buy bottled water when it's on sale at your local grocer, then bring it along with you. Depending on how long your vacation is, if there's a park or beach or both, get a couple of days that don't cost much. This way, everybody gets to unwind a bit, and gives your credit card and checkbook a break.
